PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
STUDY PROGRAM
FALL, 2005
The Michigan psychoanalytic Council will offer classes in Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapy beginning in the Fall of 2005. The program is designed
to enhance clinical work of the students.
TWO YEAR PROGRAM
The courses are divided into a first year and a second year sequence
that can lead to basic and advanced certificates of study. The faculty
is made up of MPC members who are seasoned psychoanalysts and
psychotherapists.
FLEXIBILITY
The program is designed to emphasize flexibility for both faculty and
students. Faculty will be able to schedule classes during the week or
weekend, for 1 1/2 hours or 6 hours. Students will have flexibility in
choosing courses and can take all or some courses.
CASE CONFERENCE
To help students better integrate the theory and technique, fifty percent
of all class time will be dedicated to case consultation.
COURSES
Courses on Freud, development from birth to older adult, objects relations, self
psychology, technique, relational theory, transference and counter-
transference, dreams, gender issues and cultural issues, and
ethics are taught in the program.
