
  
  
  The Michigan Psychoanalytic Council is dedicated to the promotion of humanitarian principles and enhancing personal and interpersonal well-being and creativity by bringing psychoanalytic understanding to life. This includes a commitment to action within the community: through high-quality low-cost treatment of those in need; continuing adult education through courses, conferences, and scientific meetings; and providing consultation regarding issues concerning the well-being of children, adults, and families within the broader community.
  The objectives of the Council are
  
    - The study of psychoanalysis
 
    - The enhancement of public and scientific interest in psychoanalysis
 
    - The support of educational and research programs in psychoanalysis
 
    - The establishment of standards and the certification of qualified individuals in psychoanalysis
 
    - The establishment of educational programs to train qualified individuals in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and to award them a certificate upon graduation
 
    - The establishment of collaborative relations with other organizations with similar interests
 
    - The maintenance of a non-discriminatory policy regarding gender, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, and ethnicity in membership and training
